Not your typical
Bar-B- Que Restaurant
Rivertowne Bar-B-Que is not the typical BBQ restaurant.
Business of the Year
You will find our sauces, which we prepare ourselves, in bottles on the tables, not slathered on the meats. Our way of thinking is like this; if you use quality meats, you don’t need to slather them with sauce - we will let the customer do that to their own preference. We prepare the cole slaw, baked & rivertowne beans, potato salad, bbq sauces and some of our salad dressings daily from scratch. Our kitchen’s mottos are “when in doubt, throw it out” & “if you are not proud of it, don’t put it out for someone else to eat”. The server station’s motto is “rate the plate, if you wouldn’t be proud to serve it...don’t”.
A little history about the Rivertowne BBQ, Ozark, Arkansas
After traveling across the country and enjoying many restaurants along the way as cross-country movers for over 21 years, Kevin & Pamela Doyle decided to go into the restaurant business. So on June 8, 2000, along with six employees and little to no restaurant experience, we opened the doors of Rivertowne BBQ, which is located just off the square in downtown Ozark, Arkansas. Ozark is a small town (est. pop. 3500+) which is situated just south of Interstate 40 along the Arkansas River. Our first day of business was total chaos, we were so unprepared that we were unable to re-open on the 9th; instead we made a trip to the Restaurant Supply in Fort Smith to purchase items we needed to correctly and fully operate the restaurant. When Rivertowne re-opened for business on the 10th we were totally prepared and more importantly determined to never experience another day like June 8th...
In 2005 we expanded the restaurant to twice its size adding a new kitchen, prep. room, dish wash room, BBQ smoke room (where we smoke the meats) and office. We opened up the old kitchen where we used to prepare the food, serve the food, and wash the dishes to dining which gave us seating for 25 more customers. Rivertowne BBQ Restaurant now employs 24-27 full & part-times employees and we all work very hard and take great pride in the food & service we provide for our customers
